Change Management by Design (CMBD)™
Program Overview
Change, by its very nature, is unpredictable and we therefore cannot be sure that what we forecast or plan will unfold nor can we foresee external factors or events that may interfere with organizational forecasting. In the very same way we can not predict the reaction of people; our customers, stakeholders or competitors. As you plan to change, so are they. As you change, so are they. But most of all, this uncertainty is causing all people involved to have different reactions to what is happening.
As a manager you may see Change as an opportunity to improve a situation, plan rationally and logically to make a transition or major transformation. However, as a manager you probably recognize that change often fails as a result of the inability to take others with you on the journey. On the other hand you may experience change as an unwelcome, stressful and unsettling time and met with resistance to having to deal with change.
This program explores:
- what drives change
- the different types of change
- where the barriers and boundaries are to be found
- what managers can do to understand and manage these in the context or building a roadmap with markers and mindset to plan,
- implement change using tried and tested methods and formulas.
Failing to adapt to change has consequences for organizations. Many change programs fail to produce the benefits they set out to achieve and you will learn the many reasons why change can fail. You will be introduced to how organizations that innovate and continuously improve their operations successfully and the crucial role that people and culture play.

Outcomes
As a manager, or prospective manager, it is highly likely that you will be expected to play a role in the successful design, implementation and embedding of change programs.
This requires you to have some alternative strategies, a range of skills, some knowledge of how it is done well and a menu of techniques to draw upon in order to be more successful as a manager of change.
After completing the Dawning Systems CMBD™ Program you will be able to:
Describe a significant change that has arisen in your organization and explain what is driving that change.
Understand the nature and implications of different types of change.
Apply a number of approaches to identify potential barriers to the change you are looking to manage.
Critically evaluate change programs to identify effective and less effective management approaches.
Identify strategies that can help make you a more effective change manager in future.
“Akin is a focused, strategic, and creative business leader. He not only has the ability to create opportunities but can implement strategies to yield successful execution. He is very astute at enabling top down and bottom up communication across an organization, assisting in problem solving activities that bring real solutions. He is also one of those very rare people that have the innate ability to breakdown any walls that can be dysfunctional to an organization. Skill, passion, energy and talent are all appropriate in describing Akin and the benefits he would bring to any organization”
